The Amateur Astronomers Association of Princeton is a 100+ member, astronomy club based in Princeton, New Jersey, USA. We promote astronomy-related activities for members and non-members from novice to expert. AAAP members explore a wide spectrum of astronomy interests through regular meetings, workshops, two club observatories, public outreach and regional star parties.
AAAP maintains two observatories. Simpson Observatory in Washington Crossing State Park houses a research-grade 355mm Schmidt-Cassegrain catadioptric telescope and a historic 159mm Hastings-Byrne refractor telescope. Our second facility is at Jenny Jump State Park in northwestern New Jersey. This observatory houses a 318mm custom-built Newtonian reflector.
We invite the public to attend our regular club meetings that are held in Peyton Hall on the Princeton University campus on the second Tuesday of each month from September to May. Also, the club holds public open houses at the Simpson Observatory every Friday night, weather permitting, from April through October.
